College Life Without the Brochure - College Life Advice

Welcome to Our World

Get in Touch

Before you arrive

College brochures show you the beautiful campus, the smiling students and the perfectly tidy dorm room.

They don't tell you what happens when you actually get there.

All your Questions answered

How do you make friends when you know absolutely nobody? How do you make $75 last until Friday? What do you wear? What happens when you hate your roommate? How do you stay safe on a night out? And when exactly does “just friends” become something else?

That's where LAOC comes in.

We're here for the useful stuff, the fun stuff, the awkward stuff and everything nobody remembered to put in the brochure.

Welcome to Our World. I'm LA and he's Jay

We met on the first day. Its great but we are really Just Friends???

Coffee first, lectures second, and somehow L.A. gets me involved in everything else. I’m here for the music, sport, nights out and whatever happens next.

Just Friends

That’s our story and we’re sticking to it. Our friends say otherwise, there was that one kiss at a party... but we’re definitely just friends. Aren’t we?

REAL QUESTIONS. USEFUL ANSWERS.

We're not pretending to know everything about college life. When it comes to topics like health, safety, finances, or other serious issues relevant to students, we strive to use reliable sources and guide you toward appropriate professional information and support. LAOC is here to help you navigate your options, ask better questions, and, through our dorm life tips, hopefully avoid a few mistakes along the way. After all, sometimes making the mistake is where the best student advice begins.

L.A. & Jay ARE DIGITAL CHARACTERS

One important thing you should know:

L.A. and J are fictional digital characters created for LAOC, who offer insights into college life and share valuable dorm life tips along with essential student advice.

Their personalities, conversations, stories, images and adventures are part of the LAOC editorial world.

They aren't intended to portray or impersonate real individuals, and stories involving them should not be interpreted as accounts of real events, much like the experiences students might share when discussing college life or offering dorm life tips that reflect their unique perspectives. This is valuable student advice that should be taken with a grain of skepticism.

They exist because information is considerably more entertaining when somebody has an opinion about it.

And L.A. has plenty to offer for college life, including valuable dorm life tips and student advice that can make your experience even better.

THIS IS YOUR CAMPUS TOO

LAOC isn't supposed to be just L.A. and J talking at you.

We want to hear what you think.

Got a nightmare roommate story?

Found an amazing dorm hack?

Trying to survive until Friday on $23?

Confused about somebody who says you're “just friends” but behaves suspiciously unlike a friend?

Or is there something about college nobody warned you about?

Tell us.

Your questions and ideas can help shape what LAOC talks about next.

Please don't submit private or sensitive information about yourself or somebody else. Contributions must follow our Community Guidelines, and we may edit or decline material submitted for publication.
